According to an Israeli intelligence report, ten percent of UNRWA’s staff in Gaza have connections to Islamist extremist groups. I have seen intelligence documents about this the American magazine The Wall Street Journal.

Previously, it has been reported that 12 UNRWA employees were involved in the terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7. Terrorists killed around 1,200 people in Israel. Six UNRWA workers are said to have taken part in the attack, two are said to have helped take the hostages and two have been traced to the locations where the Israelis were killed.

The report’s information is based, among other things, on tracking cell phones and information obtained from captured militants during interrogations. Israel has handed over the information to the United States, among others.

Israel claims that 1,200 of UNRWA’s 12,000 employees have links to Hamas or the Islamic Jihad extremist group. Both are considered terrorist organizations by the US and the EU. A large number of employees allegedly also have relatives in extremist groups.

An intelligence report has identified the UNRWA Arabic teacher who allegedly participated in the massacre at Kibbutz Be’er.

An UNRWA spokesman did not comment on the intelligence to The Wall Street Journal on Monday.

UNRWA (The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees) is a humanitarian organization under the UN whose mission is to provide basic services for Palestinian refugees, such as education, health care and social services. UNRWA also distributes food and relief supplies.
