It is not the first time that the key witness has been left without a lawyer. In 2019, his then lawyer Derk Wiersum was liquidated in front of his home. Oscar Hammerstein then took on the defense, but after a disagreement Onno de Jong and Peter Schouten eventually took over that role. Crime reporter Peter R. de Vries became his confidant, but he was also murdered. Whether B. will now hire a new lawyer is not yet clear. He says he doesn’t know yet.
