A woman in her 80s has died after an apartment fire in Skönsberg, reports Sundsvall’s newspaper.

It was during Sunday evening that the emergency services were alerted due to heavy smoke. The fire was quickly put out, but the woman’s life could not be saved, the newspaper writes.

Relatives have been notified.

    The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs says in a statement that it is very concerned about its employees at the embassy in the capital Khartoum and Norwegian citizens who are in the country.

  • Three UN employees dead in Sudan

    Three UN employees at the World Food Program have died in the fighting in Sudan, reports Sky News.

    A total of 56 people have died since fighting broke out between the military and the paramilitary group RSF on Saturday.

    There is concern that the conflict will degenerate into a civil war and several countries are calling for calm. Several African leaders have called President Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and RSF leader Mohamde Hamdan Dalogo.

    Egypt and South Sudan have offered to mediate in the conflict.

  • Kangaroo on the run found and killed

    A kangaroo that has been on the run from a zoo in Lintrup, Denmark since last week has been found. But the excursion from the zoo came to a tragic end, TT reports.

    Once zoo staff located the kangaroo, the next step was to stun it. It all went according to plan, but as the vet and zookeepers got closer, the stunned kangaroo got up and jumped towards a busy road.

    To avoid a kangaroo being blacked out in traffic, the decision was made to shoot it.

    – Of course, it wasn’t the ending we were hoping for. But we also really didn’t want the animal to be hit or cause an accident, says Dennis Jensen, director of Glad Zoo.
