The number of executions worldwide is increasing significantly, according to the human rights organization Amnesty International.
At least 883 people were executed last year after being sentenced to death – the highest number in five years. The figure can be compared to the 579 confirmed executions that took place globally in 2021.
However, the statistics do not include China, which is feared to execute thousands of people every year, but which keeps information about them secret. (TT)

Just over 31,000 people from Ukraine have so far received extended protection in Sweden in accordance with the mass refugee directive. Almost everyone who has been tested has been granted an extended residence permit, according to the Swedish Migration Agency.
Just over 2,000 applications remain to be decided.
In January, nearly 39,000 people with protection under the mass migration directive were registered with the Swedish Migration Agency. Since then, 5,500 people have been discharged and deemed to have left the country.
The EU’s mass refugee directive means that Ukrainian refugees are offered immediate and time-limited protection within the EU.
Today, there are roughly 33,000 refugees from Ukraine with residence permits until March 4 next year in Sweden.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk wants to personally approve all new hires within the company.
He announced this in an email that went out to all employees, reports Electrek.
“No one can start working at Tesla, not even freelancers, until you receive my approval by email,” Musk is said to have written.
Furthermore, he writes that the reason is that he wants to “get a better understanding” of the company’s employment processes.
It could be a lot of work for Musk – each year Tesla employs around 30,000 people.
At least six people have died in a fire at a hostel in New Zealand’s capital Wellington, write NZ Herald.
Around fifty people have been rescued from the building, but up to 30 people are still missing.

Investigator John Durham states in a new report that the FBI relied too much on Trump’s political opponents. It is primarily about the investigation into connections to Russia during the 2016 election campaign.
In the 306-page document, Durham concludes that neither law enforcement nor intelligence agencies had any concrete evidence of ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.

They are expensive, have to be charged all the time, seem as unwieldy as a regular helmet.

According to many tests, they should protect better than a normal bicycle helmet during normal cycling (ie not extreme sports). This is also how they have been launched.
