  • New government ready in Finland – parties share ministerial posts

    During Thursday evening, Prime Minister-elect Petteri Orpo from the Samlingspartiet announced that the government negotiations had ended.

    Today, it was presented which parties get which posts. The new government will consist of 19 ministers, writes Hufvudstadsbladet.

    The Prime Minister’s Party, the Collection Party, gets eight ministerial posts and the True Finns get seven ministerial posts.

    According to sources for Hufvudstadsbladet, the Swedish People’s Party will have two ministerial positions during the entire government period and a third position during half of the government period.

    The Christian Democrats will take the other two years and thus land on 1.5 ministerial posts.

    The ministers will be presented at the beginning of next week.

  • Fire on balcony – smoke divers on site

    A fire has broken out on a balcony in Hägersten in southern Stockholm.

    – There is a serious fire on the balcony. I haven’t received any information that it should be off yet. We are on site with two units and smoke divers, says Roger Sverndal, line operator.

    According to the emergency services, a person must have been in the apartment but managed to get out. They don’t know how the fire started yet.

    The government has decided on a new aid to Ukraine of SEK 140 million through the British fund International Fund for Ukraine, whose funds are used for training and procurement of defense equipment for Ukraine. The government writes this in a press release.

    The government has also announced SEK 90 million to NATO’s support fund for Ukraine. The purpose of the fund is to procure defense equipment, fuel, medical equipment, military training equipment and support to strengthen and modernize Ukraine’s defense and security institutions.

    The armed forces are tasked with training Ukrainian pilots and associated aeronautical personnel on the Jas 39 Gripen.

  • Woman dead after being hit

    A woman in her 70s has died after being hit by a car at a pedestrian crossing in Mjölby.

    Relatives have been notified.

    The incident occurred on Friday morning. The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance but died from her injuries.

    The incident is being investigated as causing the death of another and negligence in traffic.

    Britain’s former Prime Minister Boris Johnson has got a new job. He will write columns in the British newspaper Daily Mail, writes British newspaper The Independent.

    Johnson announced last week that he is leaving his seat in parliament.

    At the same time, there are reports that Johnson is considering standing in an upcoming mayoral election in London, according to The Independent. According to the newspaper, he may run as an independent candidate.

    Johnson was Mayor of London between 2008 and 2016.

  • LO calls sympathy strike after golf conflict

    The municipal union announced a strike a week ago for staff at twelve golf courses around the country. This is to raise the minimum wages, something that the employers opposed.

    The issue is considered so important that the entire LO now issues a long line of sympathy strike notices, TT reports.

    Several of LO’s 14 confederations of sympathy notify their respective counterparts already now, the rest will follow later.

    The government and Sweden’s municipalities and regions, SKR, have extended the agreement that was concluded in December last year. The government writes this in a press release.

    The agreement applies to vaccination against covid-19 and it will apply until the end of the year.

    – By extending the agreement with SKR, we ensure that in the future there is also good access to vaccines throughout the country, says Minister of Social Affairs Jakob Forssmed (KD), in the press release.

    The police in Halland write on their website that a woman in Halmstad has set a fire on her property despite a fire ban and has therefore been reported under the LSO, the law on protection against accidents.

    The ministers’ salaries will be increased on 1 July following a decision by the Ministers’ Remuneration Board. The Riksdag writes in a press release.

    Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson’s new salary will be SEK 191,000 a month, an increase of SEK 7,000.

    For other ministers, the salary will amount to SEK 150,500.

    Russian robot attack on Kyiv

    Ukraine claims to have shot down several Russian robots aimed at the Kiev region, writes TT.

    The information comes at the same time as several African leaders arrived in the Ukrainian capital to begin attempts at peace mediation.

    “The Russian robots are a clear message to Africa: Russia wants more war, not peace,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba writes on Twitter.

    The Almedal classic DJ Battle is closing down

    DJ Battle, who was supposed to celebrate 15 years during this year’s Almedal Week, will instead be shut down, Veckans Brief reports.

    The event had become one of Almedalen’s largest with nearly 3,000 participants annually. It was started in 2009 by Dagens Media with Rolf van den Brink as DJ.

  • One person arrested after an alarm about shooting in Gothenburg

    During yesterday, the police received an alarm about loud bangs in Biskopsgården in Gothenburg.

    According to information to Aftonbladet, several people had been shot and fled the scene.

    The police have now arrested a person connected to the events. The person must be interrogated before a decision is made on a possible arrest

  • Inflation is falling in the EU

    Inflation fell to 6.1 percent in the euro zone in May. It is the lowest level in over a year. In April, inflation was 7.0 percent at an annual rate, TT reports.

    The figure for May was in line with analysts’ expectations, according to Bloomberg.

    Looking at the EU as a whole, inflation was 7.1 percent in May, down from 8.1 percent in April.

    Prices of food, alcohol and tobacco mainly contribute to the inflation ceiling, writes Eurostat in a press release.

    Hard to know. What I do know is that the trial was supposed to be held now in June, but that it was postponed at the request of the prosecutor. The prosecutor believes that the trial can be held at the end of July at the earliest. You can read more here.
