Last minute! Gaza statement from the UN: We will have to stop our work tomorrow

Last minute Gaza statement from the UN We will have

Conditions in Gaza are getting worse. While it was announced to the whole world that there was a fuel crisis in the region for days, bad news came from the United Nations Aid Agency for Palestine Refugees.

The statement said, “If fuel is not provided, we will have to stop our work in Gaza tomorrow evening and therefore people may die.”

CALL FOR HUMANITARIAN CEASE CEASE FROM GUTERRES

The UN Security Council met in New York, USA, to discuss the conflicts between Israel and Palestine. In his speech at the meeting, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire between Israel and Palestine and stated that there was a “clear violation” of international humanitarian law in the Gaza Strip. “Let me be clear, no side of the armed conflict was above international humanitarian law,” Guterres said.

Emphasizing that more humanitarian aid should be allowed to enter the Gaza Strip, Guterres said, “The UN’s fuel stocks in Gaza will be exhausted in a few days. This will be another disaster. “I reiterate my call for an urgent humanitarian ceasefire to alleviate suffering, make aid distribution easier and safer, and facilitate the release of hostages,” he said.

“IT DID NOT START WHILE IT WAS STOPPING”

Stating that it is important to accept that Hamas’s attacks against Israel did not start out of the blue, Guterres said, “The Palestinian people have been subjected to a suffocating occupation for 56 years. They have seen their lands constantly swallowed by settlements, their economies blocked, their people displaced and their homes destroyed. “Hopes of finding a political solution to the difficult situation are vanishing,” he said.
Stating that all these cannot justify neither Hamas’s attacks nor the “collective punishment of the Palestinian people”, Guterres said: “At such a critical moment, it is vital to be clear about the principles, starting from the basic principle of respecting and protecting civilians.”
