Large prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia

A large exchange of prisoners of war has been carried out between Russia and Ukraine, reports several media from both sides.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announces via social media that 207 prisoners have returned to Ukraine.

“Our people are back, 207 of them,” writes Volodymyr Zelenskyy X in the post where he also shares photos of moved Ukrainian prisoners wiping their tears with the Ukrainian flag.

“Now we remember every Ukrainian in captivity. Both soldiers and civilians. We have to take them all back. We do the best we can. The Ukrainian team has done another excellent job! Good job!”, writes the president further.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense states that they have received back 195 soldiers.

“In exchange, exactly 195 prisoners of war from the military of Ukraine have been handed over,” the ministry in Moscow announced on social media.
