Large fire in Rome – residents evacuated

It is burning between the neighborhoods of Prati and Monte Mario.

Residents in the area have been evacuated and several roads have been closed. A court, a police station and an observatory have also been evacuated.

The TV channel Rai’s production facilities have been evacuated and the broadcasts have been interrupted, the newspaper writes.

“The cars in the area were engulfed in flames,” writes journalist Franco Scarsella on X.

According to the newspaper, so far two cars have caught fire and there is a fear that cars parked near the fire could explode.

According to Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri, the fire started on the slopes of Monte Mario.

The rescue service is on the scene with several helicopters and is working to extinguish the fire.
