Lack of hygiene by staff at popular restaurant – did not use soap

Lack of hygiene by staff at popular restaurant did

The Environment and Building Committee in Mörbylånga municipality regularly carries out routine checks at various restaurants to ensure that food legislation is being followed.

In mid-January, they did a regular check in the form of an unannounced inspection at a popular restaurant in the area.

During the inspection, the authority found several deviations, which means that all requirements in the food legislation were not met.

Lack of cleaning procedures at the restaurant

Among other things, it was noted that there were messy routines around cleaning at the restaurant.

“Mops stood in buckets of dirty water in several places. It is important to clean the premises so that it becomes clean, and therefore clean equipment and good routines are needed for this. If dirty cleaning equipment is used, the dirt only risks being moved around the premises,” wrote the Environmental Unit in its inspection report which News24 took part in.

The staff did not use soap

It was also noted that the staff lacked personal hygiene. Namely, there was a lack of hand soap at several sinks in the room.

According to the Food Act, staff who handle food must have access to running cold and hot water, hand soap and the opportunity to hygienically dry hands and, if necessary, hand disinfectant.

At the beginning of February, the Environmental Unit in Mörbylånga municipality will do a follow-up food inspection at the restaurant and make sure that they have taken measures.

When Nyheter24 reached the restaurant’s board, they said that the errors have now been fixed.

– Of course, we corrected the deviations immediately after the environmental unit carried out the inspection, says one of the board members.
