Labor ministry investigating co op student injury

The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development is investigating after a 16-year-old co-op student was hurt trimming branches in Haldimand County on Thursday.

Haldimand OPP said the male student was transported to hospital by air ambulance. His injuries are not life-threatening.

OPP said police, firefighters and paramedics were dispatched just after 3 pm on Thursday to a field on Stoney Creek Road, east of the community of York, which is east of Caledonia and west of Cayuga.

A labor ministry attended the scene.

A ministry spokesperson said its investigation is ongoing.
