Kosovar Asllani on the failed finishes: “Detail that needs to be improved”

Sweden is known for scoring in set pieces.

That was also the case against Switzerland when centre-back Magdalena Eriksson headed in Kosovare Asllani’s free kick.

Sweden had a total of 18 finishes in the match (eleven on goal). Especially in the second half, there were many situations that were dangerous, but where the last touch was pointless.

– The last detail in the offensive penalty area needs to be improved. We get around the edges but must be even clearer in the plays and running in the penalty area, says Kosovare Asllani.

A lot of responsibility at Blackstenius

Sweden is currently missing several offensive players. Both Fridolina Rolfö, Rebecka Blomqvist and Lina Hurtig are out due to injuries.

In their absence, much of the responsibility is placed on Stina Blackstenius, but at the same time she has barely had playing time in the club team Arsenal during the autumn.

“It’s easier for a forward to score than a back”

Confederation captain Peter Gerhardsson thinks at the same time that it was positive in itself that Sweden created so many opportunities.

– As a forward, it’s always nice to score goals, of course. But it is also important to feel that you are creating chances. It is worse if you are not involved in anything.

– But I think it’s important and nicer for a forward to score goals than for a back, for self-confidence. It could be so, he tells SVT Sport.
