Adoption, inheritance, social benefits… The text promulgated Tuesday by the king provides for granting homosexual couples the same rights as heterosexual couples. Because behind its open and warm appearance, the Thailand remains a conservative kingdom and activists say they have long faced discrimination.
” Our daily life has been very difficult. For example, there is a strong institutional homophobia within the civil service. Many still think that marriage is reserved only for the union of a man and a woman. “, explains Matcha.
Historical
This historic law for the country and the Southeast Asian region is due to come into force next January. As for Matcha, she has already proposed to her partner and she said “yes”. The ceremony is therefore planned for 2025.
