King Harald’s hospital stay is extended, the Norwegian royal house announced on Friday.

Now the 86-year-old monarch is expected to be discharged only on May 16, the day before Norway’s national day. There are more days in hospital than previously stated.

It was on May 8 that the Norwegian king was admitted to hospital to be treated for an infection. The condition was then stated to be stable, with the addition that Harald would spend a few days in the hospital to receive treatment for the infection.

Last year, the Norwegian regent was admitted to the National Hospital in Oslo after contracting a fever. That time too, it was established that King Harald had suffered from an infection and was then treated with intravenous antibiotics. He was later released from the hospital and was then reported to be in good health.
