North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un on Tuesday oversaw a military exercise simulating a nuclear attack on enemy targets, state-run North Korean news agency KCNA said.

According to KCNA, it should have been practiced, among other things, using the country’s “super large” launch pad that can fire several rockets at the same time.

The announcement of the exercise came a day after the military of South Korea and Japan discovered that North Korea had fired what are suspected to have been several short-range missiles towards the sea to the east of the country.

North Korea’s state news agency said the exercise’s goal was to demonstrate the strength and variety of attack capabilities it says North Korea’s nuclear weapons have. This is due to the increased tensions between North Korea and South Korea and the United States, which has conducted joint military exercises in the region.
