Kendrick Lamar what we know about his new album

KENDRICK LAMAR. After the surprise release of the song “The Heart Part 5”, Kendrick Lamar’s new album is due out this Friday.

“I am. All of us.” After creating the event at the Super Bowl 2022, then unveiling the single The Heart Part 5Kendrick Lamar will publish, this Friday, May 13, his fifth album called Mr Morales & The Big Steppers. The Californian rapper had announced the good news to his admirers last April, by simply replying to a tweet and indicating the release date of his new project. This is his first album since the release of Damn in 2017, which had met with immense success and had even earned its creator the Pulitzer literary and journalistic prize (a first for a hip hop artist).

Wednesday, May 11, on Twitter, Kendrick Lamar unveiled the cover of his new album, Mr Morales & The Big Steppers. We discover the 34-year-old artist wearing a crown of thorns, khaki pants, a gun in his belt and a child in his arms. In front of him, a woman on a bed, breastfeeding a baby. The American media TMZ is believed to be his longtime partner, Whitney Alford, and the child the rapper is holding is believed to be their two-year-old daughter. As for the baby, it could be that the couple hid (and revealed on this cover) the birth of a new child. Something to arouse the curiosity of fans around this long-awaited new album.

Kendrick Lamar and the single The Heart Part 5

Ahead of the long-awaited release of the successor to DamnKendrick Lamar unveiled, on May 9, the song The Heart Part 5 and especially its clip, viewed more than 10 million times in less than 24 hours on YouTube. A piece full of messages, which takes a sample of the song I Want You by Marvin Gaye and which evokes various social issues such as racism, illness or poverty.

In the clip of The Heart Part 5Kendrick Lamar used the technique of morphing, or deepfake and transformed his face into OJ Simpson, American football player tried and acquitted for a double murder, controversial rapper Kanye West, basketball star tragically dead Kobe Briant, Will Smith, actor adored then controversial since the Oscars, or Nipsey Hussle, American rapper who was assassinated in March 2019. Kendrick Lamar uses each of these figures to denounce violence and the fact of trivializing it, but also wonders about his responsibility as a than a rapper in society.
