Julia Henriksson is keeping her fingers crossed for an Olympic place after double SM gold – clear fit: “Wants to join me”

On Wednesday, the Swedish Olympic squad will be announced.
One of those still hoping for a ticket is sprint star Julia Henriksson, who won the SM gold in both 100 and 200 meters.
– I have shown everything I can do now, she says.

It was SM gold in the 100 meters last Friday. But the strength was also enough to take the gold in the double distance on Sunday.

Barely.

Because on the finish line crashed Julia Henriksson and hit around a few times on the hard running track at Rimnersvallen in Uddevalla.
– The forces were completely exhausted. But I dared to bet from the start, that’s good, she says.

A good summer

The Swedish sprinters have had a really good summer and on the men’s side is the 100-meter specialist Henrik Larsson – as he also won double gold at the athletics SM in Uddevalla – already selected for the Olympics.

On the women’s side, Julia Henriksson now hopes for her chance.

Last Friday, she won SM gold in the 100 meters in 11.08 seconds – eight hundredths less Linda Haglunds Swedish record, but in too strong a tailwind.

New SM record

Instead, however, Linda Haglund’s SM record in 200 meters was broken this weekend – several times over.

A short while was Nora Lindahl new record holder, after 23.06 in the trials on Saturday. However, it only lasted a few minutes. Because in the next trial heat, Julia Henriksson ran 23.03.

She then won the final by far and lowered her SC record to 22.93.

Now a few nervous days await. The national team captain Kajsa Bergqvist she already has support. The question is whether the Swedish Olympic Committee agrees.
– Yes, Kajsa wants to come with me, just hope that SOK will take me out, says Julia Henriksson.
