Jim Gottfridsson has operated on his hand.
Now the Swedish team captain sends a greeting to the Swedish people.

Sweden plays the World Cup semi-final against France late on Friday evening at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm. It is a match that all Swedish handball players dream of, but right now Sweden is forced to cope without its given leader, who is also perhaps the world’s best player.

Had surgery

It was in the quarter-final between Sweden and Egypt that Gottfridsson was forced to step off with only seven minutes played in the match. He hurt his left hand, grimaced on the field, and once on the bench, his left hand was wrapped tightly. However, Gottfridsson remained on the bench throughout the match to help and support his teammates, but afterwards came the nightmare news.

Gottfridsson had suffered a fracture in his left hand, and it was immediately clear that he would be out of action for two to three months. He thus misses the remaining matches for Sweden in the World Cup, and one of Sweden’s biggest matches for a long time. It is heavy for “Gotte”, but also for Sweden, which is forced to cope without its team captain. But for Gottfridsson, it has been “quick jerks”, as he himself describes it.

Wonderful greeting

On Instagram, Gottfridsson posts a picture together with doctors, as he has just operated on his hand in Gothenburg. However, he refuses to miss Sweden’s super match against France from the stands.

“Quick jerks! On his way back to Stockholm after a successful operation by experts Mattias Unander and Johan Sampson at Handcenter in Gothenburg,” he writes.

Finally, Gottfridsson takes the opportunity to send a greeting to the Swedish people before the semi-finals – but also to his beloved national team.

“Now we create an unforgettable atmosphere together in the Tele2 arena. Hey SWEDEN,” he writes.
