Charlotte Baris : After the election of Emmanuel Macron on April 23, 2017, France goes to the polls again in June, this time to elect its deputies.
The party of the President of the Republic wins by a large margin. And the French place a lot of hope in these new types of elected officials. They are teachers, entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers, farmers, and often have no political experience. This was Emmanuel Macron’s promise: these deputies from civil society must dust off politics and be less disconnected from citizens.
It was for example in June 2017 that Yaël Braun-Pivet, Gabriel Attal, and Aurore Bergé discovered the hemicycle. At the start of the yellow vest movement, in November 2018, the mandate of these novice deputies was just beginning. In their constituency, they are the ones who must speak for the president, explaining the government’s choices. And their daily life will therefore become complicated…
