“It’s over the line… So disrespectful”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Frida Karlsson collapsed after winning the Tour de Ski.
Now her teammates are furious.
– It is so disrespectful, says Moa Ilar about the pictures of Frida.

Frida Karlsson had a substantial lead over the competitors before the final Tour de Ski climb. The Swede had never completed the tour before, and had it as a big goal this winter. And it was really with a pinch.

The anger of teammates

Karlsson struggled – just like everyone else – during the monster climb, and when she crossed the finish line in 15th place, which was enough to win the entire tour, she collapsed immediately. Karlsson lay motionless, and ugly images unfolded. Karlsson finally had to be carried out on a stretcher, and it took three hours before she met the media.

At the same time, her teammates were angry with the media. Moa Ilar and Anna Dyvik stood in front of Karlsson when she was passed out, so that the media would not be able to film her during the difficult time. Now people rage against how Karlsson was treated.

– I think it is so disrespectful from the media that films and takes pictures when a person is lying and almost fighting for his life, I was about to say. There is a limit, and it was crossed by the media today, says Ilar to VG.

“It’s disrespectful”

So Anna Dyvik was the one who together with Moa Ilar blocked the cameras from filming Frida, and for her it was obvious.

– I think it’s disrespectful. If everyone else had been in Frida’s situation, no one would have wanted to be filmed. It is unnecessary, she says.

Moa Ilar believes that she had Christian Eriksen, the Danish midfielder who collapsed during European Championship 2021, in mind.

– There is a limit. We are human beings, you have to remember that, she says.

VG has also spoken to Doris Kallen, who for many years was media manager at Fis. She says that the role of the media is to report on what is happening, but…

– I also understand that everyone is concerned when the situation is not completely resolved. Pushing the camera up on someone who is clearly not feeling well, that is clearly borderline, she says.
