It doesn’t always have to be the most sophisticated food. Every now and then there are films like 10,000 BC that you know are actually stupid. Roland Emmerich’s adventure film was really expensive and full of mistakes, but there is an even worse version. The original is on TV tonight.

What is 10,000 BC about?

The story is actually pretty simple: Our hero D’Leh (Steven Strait) usually hunts mammoths diligently. Now it was However, his beloved Evolet (Camilla Belle) is kidnapped by nasty riders, who want to enslave her and some other villagers. Of course he has to save her. And of course it’s no coincidence that his name reads backwards as hero, no no.

On the way, D’Leh experiences this countless hair-raising adventures. Together with two companions he sets off on a truly wild journey. He has to deal with saber-toothed tigers and ends up building the pyramids in Egypt. Anything for love, of course.

10,000 BC is full of embarrassing mistakes, but it can always be worse

10,000 BC was still a success at the box office, but was heavily criticized and ridiculed. That’s because of them artistic freedom, which Roland Emmerich and co-screenwriter Harald Kloser took on. The film is full of logic holes, errors and inconsistencies.

For example, the people at that time and in that area definitely never encountered a saber-toothed tiger be. Mammoths also cannot gallop and would simply die in the desert heat of Egypt with their thick fur. There were no stone houses 10,000 years before Christ and what was eaten here is also not correct in terms of time (via: QSCMedia).

But there are supposed to be people for whom it can’t be trashy enough. We recommend the even more absurd mockbuster copy of 10,000 BC. It simply adds a few million years to it and is called 100 million BC. Time travel is also included in this mockbuster and the plot ultimately culminates in a wild showdown with dinosaurs in the present.
