(Finance) – Il Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, met the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at Palazzo Chigi. The visit – explains an official note – “confirms the strategic value of the partnership and the excellent level of relations. The exchange of important pmemoranda of understanding covering numerous strategic sectors of mutual interest and the adoption of a joint declaration demonstrate the desire to diversify and deepen ties in all sectors of common interest”.

And, on the occasion of President Tokayev’s state visit to Rome, agreement between CDP and the Kazakh Sovereign Fund. Promoting collaboration between Italian and Kazakh companies, encouraging sustainable growth projects, and identifying possible investment opportunities in the two countries: these are the main points of the cooperation agreement signed by the CEO of Cassa Depositi e PrestitiDario Scannapieco, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kazakhstan’s sovereign wealth fund ‘Samruk Kazyna’, Nurlan Zhakupov. The agreement was signed on the occasion of the state visit to Rome of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

In detail, the Cooperation Agreement between CDP and Samruk Kazyna lasts two years and is focused on the manufacturing, energy transition and logistics sectors. There collaboration between the partiesi ranges from support for cooperation opportunities between companies of the two countries to the possible financing of sustainable investment projects in Kazakhstan, characterized by a high impact on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the 2030 Agenda.

Furthermore, the agreement, aims to strengthen the collaboration between the companies of the CDP Group and Samruk-Kazyna, promoting investment opportunities in the two countries, also foreseeing the possible creation of a dedicated fund, with the aim of facilitating the exchange of know-how between the economic fabrics of Italy and Kazakhstan.

Also SACE signed two Memorandums of Understanding – with KazakhExport and Development Bank of Kazakhstan (DBK) in the occasion of the Italian-Kazakh round table organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for the visit to Italy of the President of the Republic Tokayev.

The agreements – signed by Alessandra Ricci, CEO of SACE, Nurlan Baibazarov, President of Baiterek National Managing Holding JSC for KazakhExport and DBK – aim to strengthen the partnership between Italian and Kazakh companies, increasing Made in Italy exports to Kazakhstan.

In particular, the first MoU, signed with KazakhExport, aims to develop commercial relations between Italy and Kazakhstan, encouraging the business of Italian companies interested in operating in Central Asia and Kazakh companies interested in accessing the Italian market. The agreement also provides for support from SACE to KazhakExport for the development of new insurance-financial products and the promotion of existing business lines.

The second MoU, finalized with DBK, has the objective of strengthening trade relations between the two countries, through the identification of new business opportunities in priority sectors – such as the energy, metallurgical, mining, transport, instrumental mechanics and food sectors – in which SACE undertakes to evaluate operations within a ceiling of 100 million euros. Furthermore, with this agreement, the parties undertake to organize Business Matching events involving Italian and Kazakh counterparts.

Kazakhstan represents, in fact, a rapidly growing market for Italian exports (+31.1% in the first ten months of 2023), driven by sales in the fashion sectors (textiles and clothing, jewellery, works of art and leather goods) but also by wooden products, electrical appliances and metals.

Also within the framework of the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Italy, SIMEST signed a collaboration agreement with Kazakh Invest, the country’s national investment company, today at the Farnesina.

The agreement was signed at the Farnesina by the President of SIMEST, Pasquale Salzano, and by Zhandos Temirgali Acting Chairman of the Management Board of Kazakh Invest, during the round table opened by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani.

By signing, the parties undertake to encourage the increase of bilateral investments with the aim of further developing trade relations and increasing the overall volume of mutual investments.

“The agreement signed today at the Farnesina with Kazakh Invest represents an important opportunity for the development of commercial and industrial relations between Italy and Kazakhstan. With the signature, SIMEST undertakes to support the investments of the national production sector, in particular of SMEs, in Kazakhstan, in favor of a greater presence of Made in Italy in the leading economy of Central Asia. The agreement is part of a broader framework of collaboration promoted by the governments of the two countries, in favor of the development of a strategic bilateral partnership, with the involvement of the main players in the economy and public institutions“, declared the President of SIMEST, Pasquale Salzano.
