it should not be left standing the console has hardware

It has now been two years since the PS5 was released on the market and its success is well established. With the end of the shortage of stocks, the Sony console exploded in sales, as evidenced by the 5 million units sold in the month of December alone worldwide. But it seems that the PlayStation 5 has some hardware problems; at least that’s what some technicians and repairers try to put forward to avoid sending their machine to the after-sales service after a few months of use. With its new x86-64 architecture, the PS5 has the particularity of using liquid metal to achieve the heat transfer between its APU and the cooling system instead of conventional thermal paste. A choice that hardware enthusiasts had underlined at the time of the dismantling of the machine and which had made it possible to decide that it was the best thermal conductor possible with this configuration. Only here, putting the PS5 vertically has consequences that can prove to be serious for the machine. Indeed, in this standing position, gravity pushes the liquid downwards and the latter will deteriorate the protection and thus spread on the other components of the motherboard and thus damage it.

Many repairers, both international and French, regularly post messages and videos to warn about this hardware problem which seems to be on the increase, both on the Digital Edition and Blu-ray Disc model. French technicians like Ben Montana and 68Logic have posted photos on their Facebook page to show the consequences of this liquid metal spilled on the PS5 motherboard, while TheCod3r (an English hardware videographer) even came across a brand new, barely unboxed PS5 that had the same leaked liquid metal issue. Obviously, not all PS5s are affected, but the problem now seems to be spotted by many technicians who advise letting the console lay horizontally. This is obviously not the first time that a manufacturer has offered machines with hardware problems, Nintendo being targeted by the famous Joy-Con Drift which cannot be repaired, or even Microsoft and the famous Red Ring of Death from the Xbox 360.
