It may be behind Cloetta’s stoppage of 850 tonnes of chocolate

Raw material supplier AAK, which produces plant-based fats and oils, including palm oil, says it has identified a shipment of palm oil that does not meet their quality standards.

– We discovered a deviation or contamination and it has not happened either at the customer’s place or at us, but during transport, says Carl Ahlgren, communications manager at AAK.

– It is a type of mineral oil.

He does not want to confirm whether it is the current delivery that is behind the big stoppage of chocolate from Cloetta.

– We do not comment on specific customers, says Carl Ahlgren.

According to AKK, the delivery was traced to a ship from Southeast Asia and it is an “incident in an isolated space on a ship”.

The company writes in a press release that the discovery was made earlier this year and that both customers and authorities were informed.

TT is looking for Cloetta.
