Istanbul Park is being returned to Turkish sports and athletes

Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED) made the statement today, “Istanbul Park is Returning to Turkish Sports and Athletes”.

The official statement on the subject was as follows: “The occupation of Istanbul Park, which has been persistently expressed on every platform for months by the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED), and which has been going on for more than six months, has now come to an end. In the tender announcement regarding the operation of the track made by the General Directorate of Foundations, TOSFED’s ‘call for the use of the track by our Turkish athletes’ was officially included. In the specifications of the new tender to be held at the beginning of April, it was stipulated that ‘the track should be opened to the use of TOSFED free of charge in order to ensure the training of National Athletes’. In addition to the opening of the track’s doors to Turkish sports and athletes for the first time since 2005, the condition of bringing Formula 1 back to our country, included in the tender conditions, stands out as a very important development in terms of both automobile sports and the promotion of our country.

TOSFED President Eren Üçlertoprağı said, “We are very pleased that the actual occupation in Istanbul Park will end with the new tender specifications announced by our General Directorate of Foundations.” In the Federation Presidential elections in 2021, I made a promise that ‘We will carry out all the necessary struggle to bring the track back to our sport, which is its real owner’. Within the scope of this promise, we are proud that the track will be used by our Turkish athletes. On the other hand, I would like to remind once again that we are ready to undertake any task given to our Federation by our state in order to reorganize the Formula 1 Turkish GP.

On this occasion, I would like to thank our esteemed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, our esteemed Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, our esteemed Minister of Youth and Sports, who have never spared their support to our Federation and our sport, paved the way for Formula 1 to return to our country and ensured that the track serves our Turkish athletes. Our Minister Dr. While we express our gratitude to Osman Aşkın Bak and our General Manager of Foundations, Sinan Aksu; I hope that the new process will be beneficial for our state, our nation and our sports.’ He commented.
