The Palestinian Red Crescent told the AP news agency that it has lost all connections with Gaza. According to the organization, the collapse of the telephone network means that people cannot contact the ambulance service. Some other aid organizations have also said that they cannot reach their workers in Gaza.
Israel has been expected to launch a large-scale ground offensive at any moment. Information about the expansion of ground operations has been taken as a sign that the start of the offensive is near.
