ANT MAN AND THE WASP QUANTUMANIA. Released in theaters this Wednesday, February 15, 2023, Ant-Man 3 successfully launches Phase 5 of the Marvel Universe in cinemas. Should we stay until the end of the credits to discover one of his famous post-credits scenes?

[Mis à jour le 15 février 2023 à 10h38] It’s the big American release for the month of February, Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania immerses us in the Quantum Realm with Paul Rudd andEvangeline Lilly in the title roles. For the occasion, they are opposed to Kang, an extremely important new antagonistic figure for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or MCU). In the purest tradition of Marvel Studios productions, should we expect one or more post-credits scenes at the end of the film Ant-Man 3? The answer is yes, of course! A first scene is in the middle of the credits of the feature film by Peyton Reed while a second is hidden at the very end of the credits. Without any spoilers, we advise you to stay in the room to discover them!

Before its theatrical release, Marvel Studios had lifted the veil on a new trailer full of action but also revelations for Ant-Man 3. We discover a Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) who seems to have lost a lot and is now ready to make a pact with Kang (Jonathan Majors), a bad guy capable of playing with the timelines, who offers him to recover what he has lost. We imagine that the losses of the super-hero undoubtedly concern his daughter Cassie or his companion Hope alias the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly). At least that’s what we can deduce from this trailer which seems to lead us to believe that the superhero is going to ally himself, in one way or another, with a man who does not want him. not necessarily all good. Much of the trailer takes place in the Quantum Realm, already sketched in previous Ant-Man installments. One can imagine, given the title of this third film, that a major part of the feature film will be held in this very special dimension of the Marvel universe.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is directed by Peyton Reed, already at the helm of the first two films in the franchise. Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly return to their respective roles, while Jonathan Majors will officially make his debut, on the big screen at least (he appeared in the series Loki) as Kang the Conqueror. Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer are also in the game, as is Kathryn Newton who plays Cassie Lang (Stinger). Corey Stoll is also returning to the cast, this time as Modok.

Critics have given their opinion on Ant-Man 3. Many of them see Quantumania as a way for Marvel to make its own Star Wars movie in its own way, without succeeding in making it a good movie. Most of the reviews we read, however, praise the arrival of the big bad Kang camped by Jonathan Majors. First explains for example that “if Kang is a success, we cannot say that it is the case of the film of Peyton Reed”. For the cinephile magazine, “Marvel brought this introduction of Kang to Ant-Man with a shoehorn. And it shows” in particular because of an “agreed plot”, “jokes that fall flat” or even of “generic dialogues and characters”.

The writing ofWidescreen also didn’t like this proposal from Marvel Studios. “Subatomic void, colossal ugliness, nervous giggles…Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania misses almost everything it does, and that’s a superpower in itself.” Peyton Reed’s film is also deemed “insignificant” by Numerama who notes, of course, environments “which amaze” and “action scenes [qui] let themselves be watched”. However, “Quantumania never manages to fascinate”, “the fault of an approach which becomes too dehumanized”.
