Charlotte Baris: A few days ago, I had lunch in a brasserie located a few steps from the editorial office of L’Express. On the menu, great French classics: eggs mayonnaise, Toulouse sausage, gratin dauphinois and of course, a beef tartare with a knife.
In the restaurant room, a sign specified the country of origin of the meat. And, surprise, below France was noted “Canada”. Obviously, I thought of the recent demonstrations by farmers, very angry against the European Union and its free trade agreements.
