Iran carried out missile strikes on Iraq and Syria

According to US sources, the strikes near Arbil have not hit US positions in the region.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says it has destroyed espionage centers near the city of Arbil in Iraq with missile strikes. This is reported by the news agency Reuters, referring to information from the Iranian state media.

In addition, the targets of the attacks were “gatherings of anti-Iranian terrorist groups”, the guard says.

The Revolutionary Guard says it has destroyed at least one base of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad’s espionage operations, which is located in the Kurdish self-governing region in the northern parts of Iraq, with ballistic missiles.

According to hospital sources, four civilians have died in the attacks. In addition, six wounded people have been hospitalized, according to the Kurdistan administration’s statement.

Local security sources say that one missile hit the home of a high-ranking Kurdish intelligence official and another hit the Kurdish intelligence center. In addition, one missile reportedly hit the home of a prominent Kurdish businessman. According to sources, the businessman and his family members died in the attack.

In addition, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says it has struck terrorist targets in Syria. According to the Guard, commanders of groups linked to recent terrorist activities and especially the terrorist organization ISIS have gathered at the sites, says the Guard’s own Sepah News media website.

The attacks are said to be revenge for the suicide bombings carried out by terrorists in Rask in December and in Kerman in January. Isis has previously claimed responsibility for the suicide attack in Kerman.

Missile strikes did not affect US positions

Iran’s missile strikes in the northern parts of Iraq did not hit or affect US positions, and no US personnel were injured, US official sources tell the news agency Reuters.

The Iranian strike is said to have targeted an area about 40 kilometers northeast of the city of Arbil, where the US consulate and a civilian population are located.

US official sources refused to comment further, Reuters reports.
