Instagram is testing paid subscriptions for creators

Will we soon have to pay to access certain content on Instagram? The question can now arise after the social network has launched a test, the possibility for content creators to offer paid subscriptions to their community to allow them to access exclusive content, including Live and Stories.

The price of the subscription, which can vary from 0.99 dollars to a hundred dollars per month, is set freely by each creator according to the content they offer. Subscribers who have subscribed to one of these offers will be identified using a dedicated badge that will allow them to be prominently displayed in the comments as well as in the direct messaging of the creators.

All previous subscriber-only content will remain accessible to newcomers while notifications will be automatically sent when a new live stream is about to start.
This new function, tested for the moment with a dozen creators in the United States, should allow Instagram to collect the first opinions of influencers and their followers.

Instagram is not the first social network to offer content creators the option of using a paid subscription system to guarantee access to exclusive content. A few months ago, Twitter launched Super Follows, a similar function to reward content creators.
