Insane pace in the marathon – faster mile than the Swedish record

The Swedish record for 10,000 meters is 27.55.74. When Kelvin Kiptum set a world record at the Chicago Marathon, he increased the speed after 30 kilometers.

He covered the next 10 kilometers in an incomprehensible 27 minutes and 52 seconds.

The athletics world has been fascinated by Kiptum’s times.

– The distance between 30 and 40 kilometers is practically the hardest part of the marathon. Despite that, the guy looked like he was out for a walk on holiday, says Finnish expert Lauri Hollo to Ilta-Sanomat.

Now Kiptum, who has run only three marathons, is aiming for the Olympics in Paris next summer.

– If I get the chance, and am selected, I would be happy to represent my country, he says.
