Ingrown food residues and mold were discovered at the hamburger

Umeå municipality carried out a planned but unannounced inspection of a hamburger restaurant. The hamburger restaurant belongs to a well-known fast food chain.

An environmental inspector was sent to the site in order to check that the restaurant complied with the food legislation, which includes regulations regarding cleaning and tidying.

“Suspected growth of black mold”

Once in place, the deviations are many. In the food inspection from Umeå municipality, which News24 found out via the news agency Siren, the shortcomings are listed. There you can read:

  • Old food residues and dirt are noted on the floor under the preparation bench in the kitchen.
  • The bottom shelf and stand on the preparation bench above are dirty.
  • Refrigeration counters during vegetable preparation have embedded food residues inside.
  • The box for the electrical outlet above the toaster is dirty.
  • The floor and wall up against the tile in the sink room have suspected growth of black mold.
  • Syrup concentrate on floor at syrup plant.
  • Umeå municipality is now planning, after talking with the staff at the restaurant, to carry out a follow-up check due to the worrying findings.
