Ingemar Stenmark was born in Joesjö in Lapland, but at the age of four he moved with his family to Tärnaby – the place that created many famous names in skiing, including Anja Pärson and Stig Strand.
And it was together with the same-age Strand that Stenmark began his skiing career, then in the local club Tärna IK Fjällvinden.
A few years later, the 18-year-old Stenmark went, according to Terna IK Fjällvinden, home to his first World Cup victory in the Italian Madonna di Campiglio. It would be the first of a total of 86 victories in the World Cup for the Swede, who also won two Olympic golds and five World Cup golds during his career.
For his sporting achievements, Stenmark was also awarded the Jerring Prize and Sweden’s HM King’s medal of the 8th size.

In 1989, Ingemar Stenmark ended his skiing career and since then he has appeared as an expert in the TV box during the Olympics, won “Let’s Dance” on TV4 and “Mästarnas mästaren” on SVT.
He has also competed as a racing driver for Porsche, but the time behind the wheel did not last long. In 2023, after just over two years as a driver, Stenmark announced that his racing career was over.
– It was fun with the tests and qualifiers, but at the competitions it was very nerve-wracking. But it was fun at the same time. So it’s a time I don’t want undone, he has said The Express.

A recurring search that the Swedish people make, and a theme that has recurred in interviews with Ingemar Stenmark over the years, concerns the former skier’s fortune and money.
Expressen has previously reported that Stenmark, after having lived under Monaco for several years, returned to Sweden in 2006 with a fortune of just over SEK 44 million. But the assets are not wasted.
– I am well and live a very good life. But I have to live accordingly, I can’t throw money everywhere, he has said the newspaper.
That said, Stenmark has two not-so-cheap cars in the garage: a 2022 Porsche Taycan 4 and a 2019 Porsche Macan.

But the skiing legend does not have a breathtaking income. In 2022, he had a determined earned income of a modest SEK 46,200 and a surplus of capital of SEK 464,726, according to documents from Tax Agency as News24 took part in.
In December 2022, Stenmark’s company reported, Ingemar Stenmark ABa turnover of SEK 489,000 and a profit of SEK 463,000.
The assets in the company were estimated to amount to SEK 3,373,000.
