In Söderhamn, the wind power debate is still raging despite the no vote in the referendum

On Thursday, the government’s investigation into how wind power in Sweden can be expanded and at the same time provide returns to the local community was presented.

The investigation proposes, among other things, different compensations for those who live closest to wind turbines, but points out that it is not enough.

– All in all, a municipal income is needed, says investigator Ulrika Liljeberg, who was a municipal councilor in Leksand but is now a Member of Parliament for the Center Party.

In Söderhamn there are several stakeholders who want to build offshore wind farms, and the opposition has been so great that a referendum was held last autumn where the no side won.

However, the question of wind power or not in the municipality is still alive, hear more in the clip above.
