In Quebec social conflicts are increasing

For a third consecutive week, more than 350,000 Quebec students are out of class because one of the unions is leading an indefinite general strike to obtain salary increases and better working conditions. This Friday, December 8, a group of unions affecting school staff not yet on strike, as well as hospital employees – or 420,000 union members – are following suit for six days of walkout. Meanwhile, the government is multiplying offers and counter-offers to the unions.
