In a survival game on Steam, you’ll get better recipes if you’re nice to the ghost that lives on your island

With Voyagers of Nera (PC), Treehouse Games is developing a new survival game that takes place in a magical sea world and offers co-op for up to 16 players.

What kind of game is this? Voyagers of Nera is a new survival game on Steam being developed by former Riot employees and previously known under the working title “Project Islands”. The game can be played cooperatively with up to 16 players and is scheduled to appear on Steam as early as 2024.

Voyagers of Nera is set in a “sea world” with numerous islands that are home to magical creatures and ancient mysteries. Due to the comic-like graphic style and the game world, which is visually based on the Polynesian cultural area, the survival game is reminiscent of the Disney film “Moana” (English Moana).

The game also offers well-known gameplay mechanics from the survival genre. You farm resources, explore the game world and build buildings and objects. This also includes the fight against powerful leviathans.

We’ll show you the official trailer for Voyagers of Nera here:

What sets Voyagers of Nera apart? A special feature of Voyagers of Nera is the connection between the players and an island spirit. With this you build a bond, which you then continually improve.

Island spirits are living islands and the players, as so-called runeborns, have the power to awaken the island spirit of their island and, together with it, protect the islands from corruption and restore the balance of the unstable seas.

If you maintain a good relationship with your island spirit, for example by farming the island, you will unlock new recipes and crafts. You can then use this to build better items or more beautiful buildings and make your village more livable.

Who is behind Voyagers of Nera? Voyagers of Nera is developed by Treehouse Games. This is a fairly young development studio that consists, among others, of former developers from Riot Games and Microsoft.

Former Riot employees include Michael Chu, co-founder and CEO of Treehouse. He was previously product lead at Riot Games for seven years and worked, among other things, on League of Legends.
