“We will identify the bad and outdated parts of the game through an honest analysis,” emphasized Rokosz. Still, he said they won’t ignore the “wonderful parts of the game that need to be preserved.” This demonstrates the grim tone of The Witcher’s story and its intention to preserve core elements of the series.

During the revamp, outdated areas from the original game will be brought into line with more modern exploration rules. Similar to the open world in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a layout will be created that will rely less on awkward loading screens. However, since The Witcher Remake and the next Witcher game will use the same underlying technology, fans will have to wait for the release of the next game.
