Illustrator Max Kisman about PeaceNow love sex and his grandmother

There is more of Kisman’s hand that we see every week. The 71-year-old artist is known for his illustrations for VPRO and de Volkskrant. Every Saturday you see his work in the Volkskrant Magazine in the most read section in the Netherlands: ‘the love of today’. Kisman: “As a cartoonist, I receive Corine Koole’s article and I have to come up with something to go with it. What I don’t want is to ‘just’ illustrate the story. I prefer to look for something that transcends. What is going on is hatred and envy, real love , passion, doubt or fear. And that’s what I try to draw.”
