If you’re not evil enough in Baldur’s Gate 3, the strict Drow will put an end to you now

A lot has changed in Baldur’s Gate 3 with the last update and the last patch. The romances in particular have received some updates. Now players have discovered how the strict drow Minthara reacts when you aren’t angry enough for her. And she has a few hearty words for you.

Who is Minthara? Minthara is a dark elf and paladin. You can encounter her in the first act of Baldur’s Gate 3 while roaming the Goblin camp. She is one of the leaders there alongside Priestess Gut and Hobgoblin Dror Ragzlin.

The three plan an attack on the Emerald Grove, the druid camp near the crashed nautiloid. They also recruit followers of the Absolutes for their cult on the orders of their superiors.

If you support the ruthless Drow and stand with her against the emerald grove, you can trigger a romantic scene with her in Act 1. Instead of the Tiefling party during a good run, you now celebrate with the goblins and they will visit you at night.

She doesn’t get into full swing until Act 2: There you meet her again in the Towers of the Moonrise, where you have to save her from a precarious situation. If you can do that, almost nothing will stand in the way of your romance.

Once you’re not bad enough, your relationship ends: stupider than I thought

What decision will make her break up with you? If you play the origin character Dark Urge, you will have to make some difficult decisions in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3. If you are in a committed relationship with Minthara at this point, this will trigger a pretty heated dialogue with her, at the end of which she always breaks up with you.

In the Sanctuary of Bhaal, the Dark Urge discovers that he or she is the child of Bhaal. You are now faced with the decision whether you want to accept or reject Bhaal as your father. If you refuse, Bhaal will kill you.

The living skeleton Lazarus, who you find in your camp in Act 1, reveals himself to be Jergal, the old god of death. You make a deal with him and are allowed to continue living – but with consequences.

How does the dark elf react? One of the consequences mentioned is that Minthara will break up with you. She is quick-tempered and angry. She can’t believe you would turn down so much power. She literally no longer understands the world. For them there is nothing more important than power. How can her lover refuse exactly that?

You have four different options for answering her talk. But no matter what you say, she rejects your words:

If you ask her if your love isn’t the greatest power, she answers if you really believe that, you’re stupider than I thought. If, on the other hand, you remind her that she is only alive because you didn’t kill her when your desire tempted you to do so, she laughs: It would have been a mercy – then at least I would have been spared this drivel.

You can listen to the full dialogue in English on reddit. User BardMessenger24 posted the interaction there in the sub:

So Minthara reacts quite stubbornly to your decision. She doesn’t give you the opportunity to explain yourself and simply leaves you behind. Do you think that’s completely in character? Or do you think she’s exaggerating? Please leave us your comments.

Of course, you can also just join Bhaal and keep your girlfriend. In Baldur’s Gate 3 you can even break even more social taboos if you want: Baldur’s Gate 3 breaks one of the biggest taboos in gaming and hardly anyone is really bothered by it
