Ice detachment at Storsjön – balcony had to be demolished

The alarm came at 18.20 on Wednesday evening, when private individuals noticed that the ice had started to move up towards the properties.

– It’s because of the wind, says Anders Lindgren, alarm and command officer at Gästrike rescue service.

Four properties affected

Four properties were affected and at least two houses were damaged. At one of the houses, a balcony had to be demolished.

– We have to try to get rid of the ice that is pressing on the property, says Stefan Pöllä, rescue leader at Gästrike rescue service.
