“I think it is…”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Stina Nilsson was kicked from the Biathlon World Cup.
Now she breaks the silence to tell about the noob from the national team.
– I have to look further to get it right, she says to Sportbladet.

It has been a very tough season for Stina Nilsson this winter. The 29-year-old entered his third season as a biathlete with high expectations and hopes to take new steps towards the top of the world.

Nilsson poked

But unfortunately the development has gone in the wrong direction and Nilsson has had to see himself being poked both from the World Cup and now also the Biathlon World Cup after a series of weak results during the season. It was this weekend that the news came that the Swedish national team will go to the WC in Oberhof without Stina.

Instead, the sisters became Hanna Öberg and Elvira Öberg, Anna Magnusson, Lynn Persson and Mona Brorsson the five who get to represent Sweden on the women’s side. Now Nilsson breaks the silence to tell in his own words about the feelings after the tough poke.
– I think biathlon is so much fun regardless. What triggers me is to do a great race. I have full respect that the WC team had to be withdrawn well in advance. I have full respect for that selection. Being selected for an EC is also big for me. It is clear that four girls have been on the podium and then they will go. It is perfectly reasonable that I will not go to the WC. For me, no careers are straight forward, she tells Sportbladet.

Stina’s feelings

Stina Nilsson had a nice development last season when she took big steps with the very first podium of her career at the World Cup in biathlon, she also won SM gold and was selected for the Olympic squad.
– It is a complex sport and many parts must be right. When it’s right, it can go very quickly, but when it’s not right, I have to look further to get it right, she says to the evening newspaper.

Now the 29-year-old can instead aim for the Biathlon European Championship, which starts on Wednesday. There, Stina gets to chase medals instead of at the WC and she now admits that the season so far has been frustrating.
– Yes, but absolutely. In the best of worlds, I want it to always be true. But I think it’s motivating to try to solve problems and get the ball rolling in the right direction again, she says in the interview.
