For her highly inappropriate joke about José Mourinho as the new national team captain.
There has been a lot of turmoil around the Swedish Football Association recently. Now it escalates again when the union’s general secretary Andrea Mollerberg has caused great fury on social media with the extremely strange joke about Jose Mourinho.
Inappropriate joke
Football lovers throughout Sweden are directing massive criticism at the SvFF manager after her post on X, and the joke has provoked strong reactions. After the world coach Mourinho was fired from Roma earlier today, Möllerberg saw his chance to offer humor, see the post below.

But it really hasn’t been well received.
“I want to reassure everyone who has heard. Contact made, meeting booked, no demands. Well, maybe to avoid the last place in the group and show up at the gatherings. His agent can write the contract. Now we’re driving!”, she writes on X.
Swedes rage
Given SvFF’s great difficulty in finding a new national team captain, where all candidates have turned down so far, many think that this is highly inappropriate timing for such a joke, see the post below. A lot of people are now voicing their great displeasure.
“It’s going well now,” writes the former national team player and current Malmö FF player Pontus Jansson on X.

Many other Swedes have also reacted with harsh criticism after Möllerberg’s strange joke.
“Talk about ridiculing the service for a recruitment of potential union captains. You speak as if the service would never be anywhere near Mourinho which you should not do in your role. It should be an honor to be the Swedish national team captain. Redo, do right now,” writes a user on X.
“So this is the level we have of the person who will recruit the next national team captain. You’re ashamed of yourself,” writes another.
“So this is the general secretary of the Swedish Football Association writing. You understand why Mellberg said no,” writes a third.
