How to talk about radical Islam in France

The case continues to grow: an investigation has been opened for death threats against the journalist of the French program “Forbidden Zone”, Ophélie Meunier. The latter was placed under police protection, following the broadcast of a report on radical Islam. The director and a lawyer testifying in the documentary find themselves in the same situation.

How to explain such tensions? They come more than a year after the assassination of Professor Samuel Paty who had shown caricatures of Muhammad to his students. And in a context where the threat of Islamist terrorism in France remains strong. How to inform without blowing on embers? Where to place freedom of expression?
