Fireworks ban or not?
Amersfoort has a fireworks ban for the first time this year. In Soest and in the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug, you are not allowed to let off fireworks this New Year, just like last year. The vast majority of municipalities do not impose a local cutting ban. That is untenable, most say.
Several municipalities have announced that they are in favor of a national ban, including Eemnes and Veenendaal. In Utrecht, a citizens’ council will help determine whether there will be a local ban next year.
