Hope for constructive relationship with Truss

Britain’s next Prime Minister Liz Truss is met with greetings from several quarters, including the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who hopes for a “constructive relationship, with total respect for our agreements”.

Sweden’s foreign minister Ann Linde (S) congratulates Truss and thanks her for the cooperation they already had during Liz Truss’s time as foreign minister.

“Looking forward to continuing our close relations, not least when it comes to defense and security policy,” writes Linde on Twitter.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz writes on Twitter that he looks forward to working with Liz Truss.

“The UK and Germany will continue to work closely together, both as partners and friends,” announced Scholz.

Congratulations also come from India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who writes on Twitter that he is sure that the cooperation between their respective countries will be strengthened under Truss’s leadership.
