Historian: That’s why we celebrate Trandagen

The 25th of March every year is the day of the cranberry. A tradition that has its roots all the way back to the 16th century.

– It’s a celebration of the return of light and has to do with spring, says Peter Danielsson, who is a historian and works as a consultant at the Kalmar county homestead association.

Also celebrated in Denmark

Trandagen is celebrated in parts of Småland and Öland. But what many do not know is that it is also furrowed in Värmland, Dalsland in Västmanland – and in Denmark.

But it is not only children who celebrate Trandagen. Hear Peter Danielsson answer three short questions about the celebration in the clip.
