– Sportingly, we still have a lot to play for. With that in mind, we have strengthened the team, says Salmivuori.
HIFK is fighting for a place in the Veikkausliiga, in addition to which the team is participating in the championship of the Finnish Cup.
– We have not yet fully risen from the brink of bankruptcy. We have moved on from the acute situation.
In addition to reducing the player budget, business costs have been kept to a minimum, says Salmivuori. According to him, the club has multiplied ticket and fan product sales thanks to the support campaign.
– People’s fine gesture has made it possible to continue the activity. The situation is serious, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. I can’t promise to play at 110 percent until the end of the season.
At the end of August, HIFK will meet Turku FC in the semi-finals of the Inter Cup. The winner of the pair will face either FC Lahti or Kuopio Palloseura in the final match.
With Cup-taipalesan (you switch to another service) HIFK has knocked out Espoo’s SexyPöxyt, IFK Mariehamn and Helsinki’s Pallokerho-35. Inter has defeated its own second team, Seinäjoki Football Club and Helsinki Football Club.
Eremenko will play in the Inter match
The most recent player acquisition has been successful abroad Roman Eremenko, whose contract lasts until the end of the season. Salmivuori opens up a bit about the background of the midfielder’s contract.
– He is “Mixun” (coach Mika-Matti Paatelainen) longtime friend and longtime player. Roman had a huge desire to still play, the stars aligned and an agreement was reached that Roman joined the team.
According to Salmivuori, Eremenko is in really good shape. He has been participating in HIFK’s training for a couple of weeks. The new signing is eligible to play against FC Inter from Turku on Monday, August 1.
– Both HIFK and Jaro are bound by mutual confidentiality. HIFK has nothing to add to the possible transfer compensation, because HIFK complies with the agreement made with Jaro and the content of the agreement is not reported to the outside, says Salmivuori in the press release.
There are also new players in the club Michael Bakare and David Onyeanula. There are those who have left Beto Pimparel, Pipe Saez, Keaton Isaksson and Wilson Kamavuaka.
