They also agreed to meet after the funeral, which started at 10 o’clock, reports Sky News. Late on Friday night, Swedish time, Donald Trump stated that Russia and Ukraine are “very close” an agreement.
He also emphasized that the countries should meet to get the latter pieces in place.
“They are very close to an agreement and the two pages should now meet at a very high level to ‘end it’. Most of the larger points are agreed,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Disagree on territory
The statement came a few hours after the US president in an interview with Time determined that Ukraine will not regain the occupied Crimean Peninsula.
“Crimea will remain Russian,” he told the newspaper.
At the same time, information from Reuters came that Europe and Ukraine presented a counter -proposal on how peace should be achieved. It was a response to the proposal that US envoy Steve Witkoff presented at the Paris meeting in April.
