Heritage Days 2022 the Elysee Palace on the program

HERITAGE DAYS. In Paris, the Elysée is celebrating its 300th anniversary with the 39th edition of European Heritage Days this weekend. Discover the program and the map of events throughout France.

[Mis à jour le 12 septembre 2022 à 10h44] On the occasion of Heritage Days, as every year, the Elysée Palace is visited free of charge. Visitors have the opportunity to discover the residence steeped in history of the President of the Republic. A unique opportunity to discover the backstage of the republic, from the court with its official vehicles to the office of the president via the gardens…

The icing on the cake, this year the Palais de l’Elysée celebrates its 300th anniversary and offers the opportunity to live an immersive experience by traveling in time, immersed in the Paris of 1722! Four virtual reality terminals will be installed in the Cour d’honneur: “you will experience the development of the Faubourgs, as well as the metamorphosis of the Champs-Élysées and the inauguration of the Hôtel d’Evreux” explains the press release. The life of the President of the Republic will have no more secrets for you… Don’t wait to book or find below the map of events throughout France and the theme of this 39th edition.

Close to 16,000 monuments open their doors for free throughout the France. In Île-de-France, more than 1,200 places are mobilized (mansions, industrial sites, places of power) around more than 2,000 events (guided tours, exceptional openings, workshops) for all audiences. But beware, many sites require a reservation and are crowded. This is particularly the case for circuits organized by the RATP, the SNCF, or the Elysée Palace.

This 39th edition of Heritage Days will celebrate sustainable heritage, a hot topic in the context of climate change. “It is by re-examining practices, the lessons drawn from traditions, the continuity of know-how, that heritage stakeholders (public and private historical monuments, archaeological sites, museums, archive services, holders of practices recognized as heritage intangible cultural…) prepare the heritage of tomorrow for a more sustainable future”, explains the Ministry of Culture in a press release.
