In fact, it is rain that has mixed with reddish soot in the air that colors the drops red.

The reddish sand is sand from the Sahara desert.
– It has to do with iron oxides that are oxidized when the sand becomes moist, says Lasse Rydqvistmeteorologist at Clear, to The evening paper.
“Rain of blood” is rare in the northern parts of Europe.
When the rain evaporates, stains can form which can be seen most clearly on white or black surfaces.

Meterologist Lasse Rydqvist says that it is a matter of small amounts, and there is also no guarantee that the “rain of blood” will move into Sweden.
The rain has moved into Denmark and looks to be on its way to Norway and Sweden.
– It looks like it will move in over Denmark and up towards Norway, but there is a possibility that there will be a couple of drops in Skåne and maybe southern Halland today, says Agust Thorarinsson stoolmeteorologist at StormGeo, to The Express.
