Dispute results in assault charges

A 25-year-old Norfolk County woman has been charged with two counts of assault following an April 27 incident in Simcoe.

Norfolk OPP officers were sent to an address on Queensway West at about 11:29 pm to investigate a report of an assault.
Upon arrival, officers learned three people had become embroiled in a dispute. Two people were assaulted and one person was taken into custody without incident, said police.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on May 28.
Fraud charges
A 59-year-old Norfolk County man faces fraud charges following an April 27 incident at a Queensway West address in Simcoe.
Norfolk OPP officers were sent to the address just before 11 pm to investigate a report of an unwanted person at a local business. Officers discovered a person was refusing to leave and to pay for consumable goods.

The 59-year-old man has been charged with food and lodging fraud and failing to leave premises.
He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on June 4.
Drivers loaded
Norfolk OPP charged two people with impaired driving in separate incidents that occurred Sunday.
The first charge was laid following a two-vehicle collision on Simcoe Street in Middleton, Norfolk County just before 10:41 am April 28.
No injuries were reported.
Following the collision, which took place in the parking lot of a business, one of the vehicles fled the scene. The vehicle was later located by officers at a Highway 3 in Middleton, Norfolk OPP say.
The driver was taken into custody after officers assessed his sobriety. He has been charged with driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on May 14.

Norfolk OPP investigated another report of a suspected impaired driver after receiving a 911 call at about 12:04 pm A caller was concerned about a motorist on Cockshutt Road Townsend.
Officers located the vehicle on Cockshutt Road and, after assessing the driver’s sobriety, took a 41-year-old Glanbrook man into custody without incident.
Provincial police have charged the driver with impaired driving and driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on May 28.
Golf carts stolen
Norfolk OPP are investigating the theft of three golf carts.
The carts were stolen from a Highway 24 East Charlotteville location sometime between 8 am and 8 pm April 26. Police say the carts are gray 2023 EZ-GOs number 38, 41 and 50.
